SYLVIE GUILLEM / RUSSELL MALIPHANT PUSH London
A "primaballerina assoluta": Sylvie Guillem is one of the greatest classical dancers of her
generation, for whom choreographers like John Neumeier, Mats Ek, Maurice Béjart and William Forsythe Soli have created works. In the dancer and choreographer Russell Maliphant, Guillem has found a conge-nial
partner. "Push" is the name of the award-winning duet premiered in 2005, in which both dancers
unveil a wonderful collaboration to the music of Andy Cowton with vocals by Barbara Gellhorn:
"a secret communication of the body is witnessed, a wonderful flow. Guillem and Maliphant - this is magnetism" (Der Tagesspiegel newspaper).
EVA YERBABUENA Sevilla
Her art is old, but she nevertheless revolutionizes contemporary dance: Eva Yerbabuena. Her real name is Eva Garrido, born in Frankfurt am Main and raised in Sevilla. She is among the (award winning) flamenco avant-garde and carries the magic of flamenco within herself. She is original, real, but not à la mode. "Thank goodness" (Juan Verdu).
SAVION GLOVER Tap Dance with Jazz Band New York
The beats with metal-soled shoes: from casual to energetically demanding, rhythmical, never complaisant, rousingly furious. Savion Glover is indisputably the renewer of American tap
even outside the boundaries of the USA. Individual in the dance style and performance, he makes tap to a lively modern genre. Not only his web site speaks for itself:
"Tapping into the future".
