Chanson and cabaret – wild and chaotic
Australian singer Melissa Madden-Gray is also known as “Meow Meow” – an ironic artistic figure described as “a stylized mixture of the young Liza Minelli and Amy Winehouse” who brings “outstanding, polished entertainment” to the stage (Der Spiegel).
A resident of New York, master singer and performer Melissa Madden-Gray has very well known in Europe for years now. Her performance is a clever combination of song and cabaret featuring absurd comedy and suggestive vampy poses. She often interrupts her songs to tell (strange and funny) stories about her life and sometimes even gets the audience involved.
“When she rips through the octaves, your ears are just blown away“, wrote an impressed critic.
Pina Bausch invited her to perform in the revival of “Die sieben Todsünden” (“The Seven Deadly Sins”) (Brecht / Weill).
