TEATRO CINEMA Santiago de Chile
A theater film about revenge and humanity
This is the story of a woman who only lives for revenge. Her family was killed when she was young, she was the only survivor. She managed to catch all of the culprits except for one. When she finally confronts him, he knows that his time is up. First, they talk to each other. These conversations break down the barriers created by old stories and prejudices. This story unites political art with the tools of the theater, dance and film to create a new and exciting aesthetic which counters the immediacy and presence of the body with the virtual world. The result is both drastic and dramatic.
“If revenge seems to be the only answer and death prevails over all, then fate can only be defeated without spilling blood” – this is the essence of “Sin Sangre“, the “Teatro Cinema“ group from Chile. Their theme: How can victims and culprits live together? Is it possible to overcome such old wounds? These are compelling questions for this country with a history of dictatorship.
Most of the artists were former members of the group “La Troppa“(The Troupe), formed in 1987. The lead female performer in “Sin Sangre“, Laura Pizarro, was one of the co-founders of “La Troppa“. The group chose their military name to make a statement against the political and cultural situation in their country. “Teatro Cinema“ and its involvement in society remains faithful to the original aims of “La Troppa”.
