O. Caruso / Ferenc Fehér
COMPANY FINITA LA COMMEDIA Budapest
Solo with Ferenc Fehér. German première
A lone dancer stands on the stage. Moments later, his portrait is projected on the stage backdrop. The constantly changing image of his other self plays along with the performance, providing commentary and serves as a contrast to the “real” dancer. Ferenc Fehér starts his imaginative and expressive dance with cautious, shy and stilted movements before showing the audience what inspires him in faster, more intense and passionate dance. He conveys a moment of self-awareness in man’s constant battle with the pressures of political, societal and artistic adaptation, the continuous rebellion against routine and restrictions and the pursuit of individual freedom.
“It symbolizes our resistance and rejection of continuously canonized norms and the expectations of art and society”, said choreographer Aniko Juhász.
Aniko Juhász (stage name: O. Caruso) danced and choreographed for several companies in Hungary, primarily Budapest. She also worked as a choreographer for numerous theater projects, including performances of Shakespeare, Brecht, Lorca, Molière and Sophocles. She founded her own dance company in 1993 – called “Finita la Commedia” since 2004.
Ferenc Fehér is a dancer and choreographer with “Finita la Commedia". The street dancer (electric boogie, hip-hop) has no formal training. He has worked with Aniko Juhász since 1999 and has developed his own unique style. He has received several national and international awards for his work.
